I keep returning to the question of “whose story is it?” 

As the plot progresses we are shown more and more of Biba and Mumtaz and their own desires without Haider. These storylines are far more interesting. The opening shot implies Haider’s transformation / change (no spoilers not even for the first shot!!). At the end of the movie - what change has taken place? He is not the one in the white sheet. The movie, which seeks to tell…

Listen it’s not your typical romantic dramedy, and that’s gonna make some people made. Even WITH that knowledge, the story still subverts our expectations. And that might make you “annoyed” or “wanting more” as I heard leaving the theater. 

But I think that’s exactly the point. After talking about it more with Nicole (ty for taking me love you) the film seems more to me a specific character study into what it’s like to be “the person who leaves.”
