I don't think I'd be invested in the Duniverse after watching this in 1984 but it's an entertaining watch if you know the material and can fill in the gaps. The Water of Life scene is honestly pretty badass with the worms just chilling around them, watching the transformation keenly.
I'm now even more appreciative of and impressed by Denis' vision and focus that was needed to make his film so much more than an updated retelling with modern effects.…
