I felt a little disconnected for the first part but once it switched up it definitely got interesting. I liked Anora's fierce, self-protective attitude and I liked that the story didn’t go the “typical” movie way but instead the “typical” real life way. Definitely sad, definitely wild, definitely worth a watch.

It’s totally fine to stereotype women and men using a dated, gender essentialist framework! I love the basic nods to racial diversity that never get explored—having a token black president is a great hand-wave to Liberal Values™. And the Latina human characters add enough diverse ✨flavor✨ that I don’t even miss the largely absent exploration of their personalities, conflict, or motivations.
