Leaving Las Vegas is a sort of anti-distillation of all the insanity of Hollywood romantic alcoholism. Cage beautifully captures the visceral horror of alcohol without being pathetic, he remains an (impotent) man until the end. Whisper of the Heart 1995
Miyazakis best movie. This movie creates the feeling of being a fish in water, an animal breathing air; it is so natural and true that it eludes description. The scenes with music are almost unbearably euphoric. All in all a perfect film which others should emulate dutifully.
