The Brutalist 2024
What a head scratcher.
At best? A middling critique of the American dream. At worst? A Zionist Trojan Horse, meant to seduce you to the “necessity” of a Jewish state.
The Brutalist attempts to demonstrate the violation of immigrants, both mind and body. Does it achieve that well? Does it really say anything meaningful beyond that? I fear it fails on both counts.
The first half had pieces of greatness, spoiled by a second half that was undeniably a mess…

This could have been made in 2014 and I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Enjoyed the world building and Spaeny’s work, but unfortunately the script feels too generic to give the film a lot of credit.
