Visually stunning, and you get to see several immersive scenes of a whole ballet production process, with rehearsals and amazing show numbers. So that is a treat. But for me, the film‘s pacing was a bit off - it took a little too much time for scenes that did not move along the plot, and the central plot points came rather sudden and so quick that I sometimes missed them.

What’s love got to do with it? Absolutely nothing. I had very strong reactions to every scene and character in this film, mainly strong aversion. At first, I rooted for Anora, but did not like how complicit the camera is in depicting Anora’s sex work, and how artificially the central relationship of this film comes about - although a part of me loved all of it, too. A beautiful and intense tour-de-force through an overlooked chapter of Turkish-German history. A must-see documentary to expand your horizons, and to fill a knowledge gap that you probably have but shouldn’t. The musical performances feel so vivid that it almost feels as if you’re attending a live concert instead of watching a film in a theatre.
