It was a lot more brutal and horror than I expected (even with the name), which does not mix well I feel with the kung fu fights. It just feels very off to watch someone skin somebody and then go straight to choreographed kicks and punches and it was always a little funny, which is a detriment to the film's horror atmosphere

This is a perfect schlock movie. High enough budget to play at being a real movie but still so so bad. The monster make up is sooooo good.
Went into this expecting more comedy than I got, but that's not a negative review.
This is a movie with a very unique atmosphere. It's retro and dreamlike and sometimes nauseating and really feels like what living out this sort of childhood nightmare would feel like. Does a great job of the blurring between what is real an imagined angle. Our parents traumatize us and yet we're stuck with them forever etc etc
Randy Quaid is fantastic as a terrifying father figure
Admittedly I don't like found footage movies as a general rule so my rating of this is probably lower than someone who is an actual fan of that genre. That being said there are found footage films I like and this ain't one of them.
