Nostalgia 1983
Some of the most beautiful shots I’ve seen in film but fairly sparse in terms of plot. Nostalghia focuses on what its name would imply: a longing for an impossible return to the past, on alienation in the present.
I don’t think that Tarkovsky got all of the way there thematically with this flick. It was a bit unfocused, relying heavily on implied visions to produce its message, and just didn’t feel altogether cohesive.

Megalopolis 2024
I don't think this was a good movie, per se. It was a lot of fun and had some really beautiful visuals, but in terms of ideology and message, it was a mess. Turns out, Coppola needs someone to restrain him who isn't just his son.
But that being said, as I turn it around in my head, I still think it was an achievement, even a marvelous achievement, of directorial vision. I'm just not certain quite what the achievement…
