To say this movie is just about depression is a disservice (but also if you haven’t been on antidepressants and don’t get the bath scenes maybe *it isn’t for you*). I really think this movie is a warm hug and I find it really comforting! It is a nice reminder about the meaninglessness of existence. I love to be reminded how stupid a promotion is in the face of the reality that we can be blasted out of existence in a millisecond. Death is a nice equalizer! F* me gently with a chainsaw before I ever watch Dancer in the Dark again, though.

The Monkey 2025
Between this and Longlegs, I wonder if Osgood Perkins has complicated feelings about his closeted dad Anthony Perkins and his mom that died in 9/11 and passing down his generational traumas to his kids.
