Green Book 2018
A timeless classic! Beautiful (racist) America with a heartfelt redemption arc!
Even though its the main theme of the movie, I don't think its portrayal of racism and how the state of things can change through individual actions is at all inspiring or worthy of recognition. What charmed me the most is how organic the relation between Tony and Dr. Shirley progressed throughout and how human their actions felt. Beautiful acting!

Happy as Lazzaro 2018
Such a pure figure as Lazarro alone in a lonely world. I felt compelled more than once to help him. He was worth a hundred man, yet everyone took advantage of him. Can they not scander such a good person?
The surrealism was a bit too much for me but the themes and images were georgeous. Class and wealth inequality, false prophets, one's place (and lack thereof) in the world... a wealth of interesting ideas to ponder upon!
Watched the whole movie in Italian with subtitles and understood most of it.

Silenced 2011
Yikes. Even though this is based on real events, I cannot conceive why in the name of everything that is holy you would want to show three consecutive horrible rape scenes involving innocent children. Absolutely graphic visuals and sounds that served no narrative purpose beside the shock factor. I shit you not, nothing was gained cinematically from those abominable images that are now seared forever in my mind. Absolute garbage of a movie.
Difficult subjects should be handled with care and empathy, this was clearly not the case here.

Good Will Hunting 1997
What a surprise for me it was to learn that this fantastic screenplay was written by none other than the two stars Matt Damon and Ben Affleck themselves. They actually wrote AND acted to create this absolute cheesy banger of a film with the crispiest dialogues and execution. Absolutely phenomenal.
The film is rather simple in its themes - it's not rocket science, people - but the dialogues and heart put into the characters instill so much life in it…
