  Delightful film that works as a comedy and a drama. Jack Lemmon shines and makes Baxter the ultimate underdog you just can’t help rooting for. Yes there is the sleezy nature of his dealings, but Wilder makes clear Baxter is the victim of a currier capitalist system in which the few in power have tremendous influence over their constituents.

  A bloated stardom ruined my life tale that starts promising and has some brilliant visuals but ultimately fails to really connect and comes across as incoherent at times. Raffey Cassidy was cringeworthy as young Celeste. Portman was on at times but over the top from time to time. Had some potential but never fully explores the interesting avenues of the story and comes to a severely unsatisfying ending.
