First on the David lynch filmography watch/rewatch in his honor. This viewing really cemented this was one of Lynch’s most personal films to me. As visually stunning as it is and with the benefit of the totality of the casts’ phenomenal performances, the vulnerability of it all is what struck me most. Some truly disturbing moments here, but I feel they only serve to demonstrate the power of the ultimate thesis of the film about love. I guess there is trouble till the robins come home.

arguably the most glorious compositions ever put to film. everything from the sheer grandeur of the desert to the sublime lighting in a dialogue scene is so perfectly presented in the union of sight and sound. masterful across the board, I was just especially struck by how this movie looks, but that’s not discounting that timeless masterpiece of a script and all those legendary performances too. no matter how many times I watch this it can and will never get old. a perfect film.

Truly an astonishing achievement in art. Possibly the most terrifying and most menacing depiction of Godzilla yet. Every second of screen time felt like an…

Literally just as good if not better on rewatch. Already one of my favorite movies of all time. We truly have an all time classic on our hands. Welled up with tears like 4 times because on rewatch when you know the full context of the scenes you’re able to notice even more subtle details that just enhance everything about the experience and make the emotional scenes hit even more. Never have spectacle and utter horror been balanced so well…
