Hell House LLC 2015
While I was watching this movie I heard disembodied piano noises from a different direction than my TV and briefly doubted my sanity. Turns out my neighbors were moving their piano but it did heighten the experience.

I had been thinking maybe time loop stories resonate in a similar way to Greek tragedies
* the looper, like Cassandra, knows what will happen but can’t change it
* the audience knows each loop’s “fate”, building to catharsis (“heightened emotional state achieved through renewal and restoration”)
* the purgation/epiphany is achieved, leaving a wiser or more canny looperWell, those were the grandiose thoughts I was having while watching Final Destination 2 until an extended scene where topless “teens” get roasted alive in a tanning bed for five minutes straight.

Series was really engrossing throughout, but ending with the status quo unchanged due to “amnesia” is just an unbearable copout. And if she’s meant to be lying (to herself or to everyone) about it, then the powerful scenes that show her deepening disgust and self-loathing are meaningless.
