    This car is very you.

Anora plays like the most astonishing of tightrope acts: a screwball tragicomedy that balances its myriad tones with effortless control. Baker calibrates the piece with an expert blend of hyper-sensitivity and audacity, often in the same scene; for all the freneticism of the first half, the totality of Ani's journey hits like a freight train by the time its extraordinarily heartbreaking finale arrives. Madison is towering in the role, commanding the screen from beginning to…

It's like we were in love.

Challengers crackles with electricity from its opening moments, all the way through to that absolute all-timer of a finale. I love tennis, I love hot boys, and I love Zendaya, so I already had extraordinarily high expectations for Luca and co.; conveniently enough, he just so happened to deliver his best film to-date with this one.

He's already proven himself a master conjurer of cinematic sensuality, time and time again, but what Guadagnino’s done…

Oh, there she is! The almost-birthday girl!

Ooh, I do love a good horror-procedural, and this was just delicious. Absolutely thrilled that we waited (ages) to watch it at home, as the audience guffawing at every single moment with our titular devil-worshipper would've infuriated me beyond belief—instead, I was next to Cameron on the couch, tying myself into a braided knot with anxiety, and loving every minute of it. Monroe knocks it out of the park yet again, continuing her…

Ceaselessly beautiful in its delicate existentialism, Flow is unlike anything I've ever seen. Zilbalodis' ever-roving camera moves like a miracle, gliding through each moment with such lush, awe-inspiring complexity, all backed by his and Rihards Zaļupe's scoring, sublime in its minimalism and meditative grace. The universality of the film is impossibly moving: it's one that speaks to the entire world without saying a thing. Pure poetry in motion.

I will miss your lips and everything attached to them.

Tonally, Elizabethtown is bananas. It’s got an exercise bike-turned-suicide machine; an unrelated, unexpected death; Paula Deen; a multi-day, 24/7 wedding reception; Susan Sarandon doing both stand-up and tap dancing routines at the memorial service for the person who unexpectedly died...i.e. her husband...and, keep in mind, I’ve left *out* a lot? But! Somehow! It really does work. The soundtrack is (no surprise) divine, Kirsten & Orlando have stupendously good chemistry, and, overall, I…

Life is too short to be angry at one’s sisters.

Greta Gerwig's Little Women is the dictionary definition of a "treasure"; it is, simply, exquisite in every way. I have regarded Louisa May Alcott's immortal text as my all-time favorite book for almost two decades now, and this faultless adaptation already means so much to me after one single viewing, my brain isn't quite sure what to do with itself.

It is, at once, a perfectly crafted time machine back to…
