    there was an entire sequence that paid homage to mad max: fury road and if that's not enough to get you to see moana, I don't know what else to say.

    BUT I'm going to say more anyway. with moana you get a fun-filled, buddy road trip movie filled with adventure (and without a love interest!!) the music is catchy and the animation is stunning. it might have been just a tad too long of a run-time but you'll walk out feeling happy nonetheless.

    during a time of year when most horror/thriller films are lacking a certain oomph, don't breathe brings a revitalizing punch to the genre. writer/director fede alvarez pulls out all the ridiculous stops, letting the audience only catch their breath for a second before sucking us back into the relentless (and sometimes unbelievable) terror. and if you're lucky enough to be in the right audience, it's so much fun.

    it's been a few days and I'm still not sure how I feel about this film. in a way, I appreciate the extremities it went to. the themes of romantic relationships vs. the single life are really pushed to the ends of the spectrum here, and the dark comedy works well in this world where if you don't find a partner, you're surgically transformed into an animal.
