the truman show is a paranoia-filled spectacle masked behind jim carrey’s heartwarming smile and comedic timing. it makes me think of george orwell’s 1984, though where Winston Smith and Truman Burbank differ is that the latter protagonist finally tasted the freedom he had been hungering for. what i love most is the last line—mentioned above—is how the audience is just done with truman, as any fan would be after their favorite show has ended. after…
