We watched this with my mom who was ENGROSSED and then promptly when it ended declared “I don’t like it”. It was less irritating to watch this time around and somehow I’d forgotten the beginning scene.
A beautiful fever dream threading interconnectedness, family, time, and language.
How did we get here? Why does no one in this know how to hold a 🔪??? Suspiria was a tight, tense, terrifying feminine nightmare and Inferno is its weird, slovenly, masculine cousin. Points for style (the rat scene is one of my faves) and use of music to build tension (synth rock and choral singing in the same film 😻). The cinematography and coloring are also highlights but the plot is thin and the whole thing falls apart in the end. I love Argento and I’m glad i watched but this is probably my least favorite of his films.
