A well made film but a story that does not justify its 96 minute run time. A film that has all of the elements for a outlandish comedy but instead stays very securely behind the line, and may in fact take an all to serious tone for the subject matter at hand.

A film that epitomises what appears to be the future career trajectory of Todd Philips. That being the poor imitation of films that have gone before all with the almost suffocating bastardisation of Martin Scorsese underlining the whole ordeal. Here Philips is kind enough to allow the audience to reminisce of numerous films that have dealt with aspects of what Joker attempts to approach. So often a scene that has been seen before in another film can be seen without the same tone or impact. It is a reminder of something you enjoyed but it most certainly is not that thing.

A prime case of an interesting story doesn’t guarantee an interesting film.
Once the many layers of Berg are revealed, the film quickly becomes flat lacking the final ingredient of a war time spy thriller.
