  Not sure if it counts as a watch because I fell asleep partway through one of the pretty abysmal musical numbers. No idea why this got so many accolades at Cannes, maybe I'm missing something?

  Ralph Fiennes was the only character that felt like a true man of God. Worth it for the facial expressions of Isabella Rossellini and for the inevitable Wikipedia rabbit hole of conclaves you will go down after watching.

  Almost too good, leaves some concern for how part ii will live up to the hype. There's a reason the musical has had such staying power on Broadway, hopefully they haven't saved too much original content for a bloated sequel in 2025. Reinforces the fact that using Broadway trained singers always works better for Broadway level music, this would have likely been terrible with the stunt casting that has plagued some more recent musical adaptions.

  "I have seen things in this world that would make Isaac Newton crawl back into his mother's womb." Unclear if Dafoe's character was supposed to be comedic relief but it summed up how I felt about Orlok's moustache, only miss on otherwise fabulous effects make-up.
  It was a Christmas blessing that Harry Styles and Anya Taylor-Joy dropped out of this movie so we got Hoult and Lily-Rose, possibly their best acting performances. Could this become the new alternative Christmas movie?
