this basically happened to me this weekend

did finally see the end of the movie though. good for casual viewing between 10 pm Saturday and 7 am Sunday if you need a breather after fighting your sibling in Caesar’s palace and reshuffling your airbnb so your friend can lose her virginity on da bachelorette party

this is probably what you would get if you let Michael Bay make M Night Shymalan’s Signs

pretty good but damn 9/11 did a number on everyone that Spielberg made this! thank god our short king yet bad dad Tom cruise was there and the aliens don’t fuck with Boston or in laws.

loses a star for cowardice for not killing Robbie

kinda shocked how much of the discussion of this is about it being “trashy” like… maybe I’m white trash and have spent too much time in florida but this is a beautifully shot tableau communicating the very essence of Florida Man and that is cinema to me!!! I’m Nicole Kidman in the amc commercial but wearing a big sun hat and one of those bikini outline novelty t shirts coming to this place to laugh and to cry at kevin bacon full frontal nudity!!!!

as far as the plot goes they had us in the first half but ultimately weird girls stay winning <3

my favorite part of this is when the audience knows the truth about who is writing the letters and it’s set up that in a different movie you’d be laughing at Klara but she’s just so darn good at insulting Jimmy Stewart that you’re laughing at him instead

there’s a lot going on here related to the politics of small businesses and working for one that is somehow less pointed but also arguably more effective than its 90s descendant you’ve…
