Fun movie! I was really not into it for the first 15-20 minutes, but once the there were two Mickey's, the movie really got going. This is not a film that is subtle about its themes or ideas and leaves very little room for ambiguity, which is funny because it's so different from Bong's last movie. It's almost like he doesn't trust American moviegoers (fair) to be smart enough to understand subtlety.

One of the most visually stunning animated films ever. Animation is in a really strong place right now when this is the best animated feature runner up from a major studio. The opening 20 minutes and closing 15 minutes in particular were just stunning.

Before even getting to the *real* controversy of this movie, it's kind of just poorly made. It's attempting to be a modern day myth but it gives it's characters very little depth or nuance beyond "this person was bad but now they're good." All character motivations and feelings are spelled out in the musical numbers which add very little to the movie outside of that.
