despondency bleeds slowly through this visually breathtaking film - I was worried it would lose it’s punch wth the flash forwards but WOW no, the last scene with the tv was a sucker punch.
have mention to Eunice in the ‘pimpão in the road’ scene which I felt in my bones; eunice’s interaction with the guard as she left also so interesting. also water ! swimming ! traditions and tenderness.
go and see this film!! bring a glass of scotch with ice, a cigarette and tissues.
