The first 2/3 of this movie was very ominous. The final 1/3 fell...flat? Overall, I still found myself covering my eyes throughout.

A Real Pain 2024
This is such a fascinating movie. It is only 90 minutes, which I love, but the short length ended up creating an experience where everything happened so fast and it took a full day to take it all in and understand the film more. I will push back against those who say Kieran Culkin is just playing Roman Roy. That is just false AND shows people have a recency bias there. This character is completely different and much, much deeper. Finally, I nearly cried from a simple hug, which shows how powerful the writing and acting was.

What is this? Who made this? This is the best movie I've ever seen in my life. Looking at Paul Mescal dealing with his mental health, on this vacation...destroyed me. He looks like an ancient Roman soldier in the scene where they sing him happy birthday. All of this was just soul-crushing but I couldn't look away. This is truly "Best Picture" in every way possible. Not at the Oscars, but in general.
