The costumes!!! The sets!!! The colours!!!!! Truly spectacular. Some of the very best out there, if not Thee Best. Also enjoyed the thoroughly Gothic story 👍👍👍

The Bridget Jones type of humour is naturally built on a lot of cringe and embarrassment, which largely makes it unbearable. This one had less of it than the other ones, it was more mature, more calm, less bent on humiliating Bridget. Which made it nice. But it was also boring and there were moments when I thought that even with this minimal story they hadn't really been strategic enough with the build-up. Truly, got nothing out of this.

I'm not sure this film knows what it wants to say. There was plenty there that was not meaningfully connected to the topic at hand at all. The Frenchwoman was absolutely the star of the show and her narrative was both interesting and had something important and unique to say about the way the KGB operated, but everything else lacked substance and relevance.

Exactly how it's supposed to be.
