Flipping tried and true anime tropes enough to feel fresh and original. Metaphors abound in anime, and the way they explained the natural disaster of earthquakes and abundance of them in Japan via invisible gigantic worms blooming out from secret doors to infinity… it was cool.

Great fun, smooth animation and light hearted (except for the emo starbaby, suuuper dark).
As a long time gamer, I was pleased that they brushed upon many elements of the evolution of Mario without harping on any specific aspect for too long, although they said “Mama Mia!” enough to make me cry pesto sauce. Fast pace keeping it lively for the 90 mins without my usual exhaustion from ultra colorful kids movies.
Its easy to call this movie “Nostalgia Bait”…

Getting to see another country’s assassin hotel was very cooool. The Assassin’s code and Samurai code have their similarities and was a good fit getting to see Japan’s side of this story.
Exceptionally good casting. For a movie with minimal dialogue, the moments of actual acting were spot on (sans John Wick’s borderline opiate addict voice: “Yeaaah… Not really…” lol) and memorable.
The fighting not so much. More of the same from the previous films… but that’s why…
