The Holdovers 2023
Here ya go, Killer.
In the hands of someone different, someone less adept in the importance of emotion within the script, this film is a cute/sad feel good. Instead it's a sorrowful story of a man and his adolescent mirror.
Giamatti and Joy Randolph are incredible in this, but time and time again Dominic Sessas performance sticks out to me. The character of Angus is essentially the anchor for this story. If he is any bit unlikable or perceived as someone without a moral compass, the film doesn’t work the same. Charisma for days and levity to beat, he shines every time I rewatch.

Fun for everyone from six months old to 95!
Glenn Powell IS movies. Some incredible direction and twists….on the previous installment. Starting the main character on the immoral side of the storm chasing business is a fresh way to tell this story.
The prologue drawing you into the story with the death of her friends was a pleasant surprise that I should’ve seen coming but didn’t.
Ripping the wall off the movie screen in the final scene, presenting the viewer the massive tornado and climax of the film through the eyes of civilians holding on for dear life, chefs kiss.
