Akira Kurosawa's reputation as an auteur does not lie. Even from the measly four films I've seen, his prowess as a directional tour de force is apparent. Ran especially, is mesmerizing in its visual beauty. Unfortunately, Kurosawa's narratives don't seem to resonate with me all that much- be it intellectually or emotionally. I hope someday I'll watch a Kurosawa film that strikes all the right chords.
