  Seemed less distant than a lot of, if not most 1940s films i’ve ever seen so that impressed me.
  it feels like i can reach through the screen and touch the characters, that they are closer than ever. Very modern feel, however like a friend on here had said, this movie just wasn’t for me. Very dramatic in a light hearted way yet slowly paced… i was expecting a striking suspenseful drama about a ballerina but didn’t necessarily get that. I liked Anton Walbrook and Léonide Massine‘s performance.
