Breathtaking it is
It's visual is something u wouldn't want to miss
The D in Dune: Part One stand for Denis Villeneuve. The way he play with visuals made me think that he actually travelled to 10001st century and showed us its craziness of its intergalactic kingdom. Oh well, even though most of the time, all ye would see is the desert.
The audio? Heck, it's awesome. Silence followed by sudden drums. Rowdy desert theme followed by sudden quietness. Whoever…
Should pale death and treble dread,
Make the ocean caves our bed.
God who hear'st the surges roll, Deign to save the suppliant soul.
A toast for my mind for still being sane after following what both Tom experienced in the rock. I still am sane, am I?
I can't found what exactly The Lighthouse trying to tell me. An open-ended movie, a dish for mind, served with chaotic sequences of events, compelling me to think of what is real and what is not.
I understand why not all people like Maquia. There is so much theme inserted into this movie, I would say it is too much, even.
However...Even though this movie has its weakness on not heavily focusing its exploration on its single particular main theme, parenthood, I would say that this "jack-of-all-trade" surface level themes inside Maquia incite and invite me to think.
Maquia wanted us to think about diversity, freedom, parenthood, and etcetera. Not by spoonfeeding us with ton but few.
If u want to fully enjoy this movie, I'd say...
"Let go all thought, dwell into the depth of your emotion."
