Dune: Part Two 2024
Having read the book I should have known Dune: Part Two was going to be a war film. That said, it was as expected beautiful and evocative. I found the score compelling, although somewhat overbearing at times and the cinematography once again, a visual feast.
What I did not expect was such strong themes of colonialism, white saviorism, and the blatant exploitation of an indigenous people by the very person they sought to help them.

Orion and the Dark 2024
I was so disappointed when I finally watched this film. Having seen the trailer I was excited by the beautiful art style and the relatable subject matter, however the full movie did little to build on that strong start.
Orion proved to be SO extraordinarily fearful that it became annoying and he has almost no character arc throughout the film. Of course he overcomes his fear of the dark as expected but his journey to that end does not seem…
