Stand by Me 1986
Movie felt like it encapsulated 50s really well. Friendships reminded me of being a kid and adventures I’d go on. Narration is cheesy in a super sweet way. Drove home importance of friendship and looking out for one another. Great movie 😝

The Holdovers 2023
An incredible movie that explores mental health, family troubles, and relationships. Set in the holiday season of New England in the 1960s; The use of great empty stone buildings, wooden interiors, gray skies, and constant snow perfectly matched the realities displayed of how lonely, cruel, and difficult these times can be despite the expected joy. The characters felt real and their development throughout the movie was beautiful yet not overdone. Acting fantastic as well and brought me to tears. Would rec to anyone especially during holiday season!
