This is a pretty mediocre movie that would’ve made for a pretty solid video game.
Like, it really feels as if the director actually wanted to make a AAA studio third person shooter for the PS5 (Metal Gear Solid meets Last of Us meets BioWare, but with much worse writing), and got told no by the powers that be, and was like “fine, twist my arm — I’ll make a B-tier action melodrama with weirdly high-profile Hollywood talent for a movie so mid”, and Apple TV+ execs were like “did you say movie?” and paid $100M for the distribution rights.
I still had fun though.
