  My Dad's Christmas Date 2020

  I put this movie on expecting a fun, corny Christmas rom-com, but I was totally surprised by the substance. It ended up being a bit depressing, though not necessarily in a bad way. If anything it kind of made it more realistic, though I couldn’t exactly relate to the whole British aspect of the movie lol. It also wasn’t as ‘christmasy’ as i’d expected, but it still had some good laughs and I liked the general dynamic. It took a different direction than I anticipated but I think it managed to wrap things up nicely in the end.

  I love anything with Jason Bateman, and this one did not disappoint! It was a solid watch—far less predictable than I expected, which was a pleasant surprise. It’s always refreshing when a new Netflix release turns out to be genuinely good and thrilling.

  Although it has some dark themes, Stay is a beautifully crafted psychological thriller that rewards patience and careful reflection. Its unconventional storytelling and surreal visuals create a disorienting yet intentional atmosphere that mirrors the protagonist’s unraveling mental state. Initially, it’s easy to feel confused and overwhelmed, but as the film’s intricate layers unfold, everything comes together in a way that feels completely coherent, to me at least.
