“if i loved you less, i might be able to talk about it more”

they nailed The Line and anya taylor-joy manifested her own nose bleed so what more do you need!!!

(answer: anya constantly doing the absolute most with the tiniest expressions and the biggest eyes to humanize emma even as she assumes she knows best of everyone around her and hurts others in the process, a never-ending parade of incredibly fun costumes and sets bursting with colour and texture and RUFFLES, and josh o’connor looking ridiculously pleased with himself 90% of the time he’s onscreen. delightful all around)

sweet without dipping into saccharine, thoughtful without pretension, and full of characters who turn up for one scene and with their tiniest idiosyncrasies feel like such real people just trying to help each other get by. anchored of course by alvin straight’s patient and incredible determination to complete his midwest odyssey in that odd rig of his. i didn’t know til the end that it was based on a true story and yeah, that got me.

just so lovely all around it makes you ache a little. in the best way.
