Shoplifters 2018
One of the highlights of my year film wise when this came out. The kind of movie that keeps recurring in your thoughts, stalking the back of your mind, waiting, just waiting, to be rewatched.
Heartwarming and authentic and simple. Some interesting philosophical / polticial tropes vis a vis the theme of the noble savage.
Can be sad but also warm at times.

YES. This movie stayed with me. I watched it with a friends and we were talking about it afterwards for hours. That's always a good sign. I'm so glad I watched Parasite so I could find my way to this film.
Gritty and real and intriguing and gives an interesting insight into Korean sociology / daily life without being overt or patronising. Or an inversion of cultural imperialism, which is what too often happens.
Don't need to be a weeb to watch it, or a foreign film fan - it's good in its own right.Translated from by
