The Exorcist 1973
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
One of the greatest movies ever made and my personal favourite. It's a brilliant study on faith and the greater good. The story follows 12 year old Reagan MacNeil, who slowly becomes possessed by the demonic Pazuzu. In the story's B plot, we follow Christian psychologist Father Damien Karras, who is struggling with his faith, especially after the recent passing of his mother, which he blames himself for. These stories come together beautifully and the ending absolutely devastated me when…

Don't Look Now 1973
Scratch that, even the meh parts were better on a second watch- this wasn't boring at all. Just pure brilliance in direction, paranoia, and most importantly: Foreshadowing.
Let him not go, indeed.

"What have you done to him? What have you done to his eyes?"

Taxi Driver 1976
I was massively wrong in my initial thoughts of this film, it's a very good character study with stunning cinematography and a perfect sense of unease as we take a trip into the labyrinthine mind of Travis Bickle. Used to think the middle section was pretty boring, but now the first hour as a whole is easily the best part. Whilst the plot does meander near the end and there's not much buildup, this is made up for by the sheer character of Travis, who we follow the entire time. De Niro also gives a great performance. Very solid film, definitely hits harder at night.
