Memoir of a Snail 2024
At its core, Memoir of a Snail earns my respect by presenting my country in its purest, little claymation form.
But the truth in my rating, comes from the avenues of authenticity and passion bleeding through its filmmaking and messaging—Avenues that often categorise films as unquestionably great.

The Color of Pomegranates 1969
The film portrays a deeply rooted look into Armenian culture, floating through sayat-novas life, and exploring symbolism in the aforementioned culture; religion; and the director's own experience under the soviet union. Topics I know not enough to truly grasp the film, resulting in the messaging being lost on me.
Regardless, what's not lost on me is the film's purpose as an exercise in visual poetry, which it achieved gracefully, strongly aided by an immersive score; creating a beautiful and visceral experience—an experience that can't be reflected through stars.

The Stuff 1985
Larry Cohen gives yet another satirical film, that holds meaning rich and firm throughout its 40 years of existence. Whilst simultaneously, providing great practical effects and some goofy enjoyment.
However, it very much lacks any substance outside of the above-mentioned; begging the question of why a 1.5 hr movie feels overlong, and ultimately holds itself back from being a true cult classic like many other movies of the same nature.
