Yes this is just people talking. MUBI says this is sort of an homage to Straub and Huillet, but unlike in their movies I could actually follow what was being said, and moreover it was really interesting. Truly made me want to read Dante; I only ever read bits of the Inferno and never touched the Purgatorio or Paradiso. So yeah, actually liked this quite a bit.

The Beach Bum 2019
Basically what I expected. Like many other people, I am a sucker for Matthew McConaughey, so of course that made the movie more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been. With Harmony Korine, of course I don't expect a big message or artistic statement or really much of a point at all. I just sit back and enjoy the weird stuff. The weird stuff was reasonably enjoyable. And I definitely prefer an amoral movie with no message to heavy-handed preaching...

It's as if Lost Highway was redone as a comedy...
But seriously. This was a lot of fun. I always enjoy multiple layers of reality (no pun intended), nonlinear timelines, all that stuff. This movie was not anything profound, but nevertheless quite clever and unconventional. Enjoyed it.
