A true masterpiece that only comes from genius obsession and innovation - breaking completely new ground and caring passionately about each frame.

It begins with pure romance (Wishing/One Song is also the best music in the film), quickly turns to horror, then largely moves to comedy sequences (with horror interludes), until the suspenseful climax and heavenly finale. Each shot is a gag, a fright, or a beautiful painting.

Thankfully there is no desire to cram in story or conflict outside…

This movie definitely feels like there was a script draft that was a six episode streaming series version and a 3 hour film version that felt short because it was half the tv series.

It’s wild how unnecessary scenes (the nightmare at the end) and belabored voice-over (I would have understood all the act one exposition visually) can drag a movie down to being “okay” and a little bit of a chore.

Another choice that felt awkward on first watch…

I miss hanging out and vibing as if there’s unlimited time in my life and like each experience  is enlightening.

Gonna pretend to be in my 20s this summer and see if it sticks.

I feel so much shame for loving comic books and not letting go of childish things after seeing this movie. I’ve never felt a greater urge to grow up, in every way that I can imagine. The point is that it sucks and is played out. It’s so cynical, stupid, and dull while shrieking references, gags, and violence. I get that it’s “Deadpool” but this movie truly represents Deadpool 100%. Rather than being a Bugs Bunny superhero flick, it’s taking a shower in all the vileness of Marvel’s worst character.

Or maybe my brain just processes irony differently than a lot of folks.
