Gave this a rewatch, and man, what an explosive, joyful take on the time loop subgenre.

Little Shop of Horrors 1986
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
Howard Ashman is a lyrical genius and we lost him too soon. This movie is a practically perfect adaptation of the musical (already one of my favorites). I only knock off a 1/2 star rating due to the compromised conclusion of the theatrical cut, an ending that not only undercuts the intended tragedy of the piece but also its anti-capitalistic/nuclear-era thematic undercurrents. (Audrey getting that suburban house is not really a happy ending, even if the film tries to convince us it is.) Skid Row is also one of the best musical theater songs of all time.
