Odeon Luxe West End - Screen 1
America is now bolivia.
If I had to sum up this film in one word it would be loud. I watched this in a dolby theatre and I've never heard gunshots with such oomph as these did.
The quick synopsis is a group of journalist photographers on a road trip in a war-torn, psychopathic USA in to hopefully interview the president before the western forces get there first.
Lots of thematic similarity to…

Video Essay the movie!!
Thrilling film, and extremely gripping throughout. Loved the 70s aesthetic, although I wish the cameras had a more old-school vintage feel to them, however, they didn't restrain themselves from making the quality of scenes within the TV show look degraded which made it seem realistic and immersive. Lots of the film has a bit of a campy horror vibe, especially the effects at the end which I can imagine some people…

Stratford Vue - Screen 6
Indian John Wick. Amazing film. The cinematography was surprisingly interesting with lots of shots following the movement of objects or people. The music, especially in the club scenes while not very memorable was great. One problem is that the character's motivation sometimes wasn't clear, I couldn't tell whether or not the main character had his revenge plan from the start of the movie or if it was just a coincidence he met the General at the club. While some scenes can feel pointless or slow the payoff is worth it. Especially the escape scene at the halfway point.
Probably my favourite animated films I've seen so far in my life and my first from Satoshi Kon. Some of the best music I have ever heard in a movie, the reason I even watched it for a second time was after listening to half of 'Meditational Field' on youtube. I could see myself watching this film a dozen more times in the future, hopefully also in a cinema too.
