  The lighting and color is amazing. The washed out colors of the scenery captures that true to life color. the screaming cicadas indicating a humid summer day and the heavy rain brings in a foreboding feeling of sorrow.

  I enjoy the wide shots that give you atmosphere that is filled with the droning sounds of water or wind, bringing that comfortable albeit uncanny pause that makes you think about the situation deeper. I really love those kinds of shots.

  I'm a sucker for soundtracks with Marilyn Manson songs in them. I don't know what it is, but it heightens the experience of any early 00s horror movie.

  Also, this movie's myriad of other tracks is excellent and helps solidify its era. The stale orchestral soundtrack that runs when that isn't playing can be flat.

  The characters can be lame, like their decisions are not the best. That's not what makes the movie great; it's the set, death scenes, era, actors, and slapped-on 00s songs.

  That's what makes it great.
