LOVED. full of wit and informed criticism for christianity. a little nonsensical at times but personally I enjoy that. wish I had the Bible stories memorized (never thought id ever say that in my entire life) to better understand the plot but my base knowledge was sufficient enough for it to make a modicum of sense and be interesting.

The Gospel According to Matthew 1964
Maybe it would’ve been better if I hadn’t just read said gospel of Matthew, but this was almost word for sparing word a replica of the book. Which to me, given that the acting wasn’t particularly good, made it not my MOST favorite film in the entire world (was bored). that being said the visuals are stunning— landscape and cinematography and costuming. And i can appreciate the unbiased view of the gospel— just straight from the book no imposing beliefs.

A Very Long Engagement 2004
so bittersweet, i love anything and everything audrey tautou is in, but i feel like this movie especially emphasizes the (however cheesy it may be) power of love
