Mortuary 2005
A full-on Tobe Hooper experience. Nice to see Denise Crosby in such an absurd role. Started off as basic early 2000s horror 101, kinda meh, but then halfway through everything starts going a little crazy. The third act is absolutely bonkers in the best way. Rips off a lot of classics (People Under The Stairs and Goonies to name a couple), but it’s all in good fun. Was watching just to check off my list, but it ended up being a wildly entertaining ride.

Sadly doesn’t hold up for obvious reasons, but in its time it was an impressively creative and well constructed dialogue/character driven flick, and my 90s nostalgia knows no bounds, so I’ll still rate this more kindly than it probably deserves in 2025. I will not apologize though for feeling like human society peaked 30 years ago and we’ve just been mucking it up ever since

Insidious: Chapter 2 2013
A little underrated honestly as it’s an effective continuation of part 1 and the storyline is fairly original. Cast is killer and the reveals are well done. Bishara’s score is excellent again. A worthy enough companion piece

Whenever this is randomly on I get sucked in. A found footage monster movie that actually has character development and a tight storyline. I care about these people and I don’t know why. Reveals are on point throughout. And it holds up even with tech changes. Love this movie every single time
