It's been a month since I watched The Virgin Suicides, and I still have no words to describe Sofia Coppola's debut. This movie changed my life. The dreamy atmosphere, the soundtrack, the characters, the script... I mean, everything is perfect.
Sofia's depiction of the Lisbon girls is pure emotion; it shows the problems of teenage girlhood and includes us, the audience, women and men, with a kind of voyeuristic look.
I had never watched a movie by Sofia Coppola before but I was blown away by the filmmaking.
I don't know when I'll rewatch this again because I was so heartbroken, but I will someday.
The perfect crime with a touch of gay subtext. The plot is simple but the execution is flawless. Hitchcock plays with the space, there's only one scenario, and it certainly looks like a theater play, but he keeps the tension for 1 hour and a half.
Fun fact: this movie is probably the hardest to see Hitchcock's cameo.
This is pure evil on live, like, watching any late shows like Jimmy Kimmel's or Jimmy Fallon's but with some paranormal activities happening on set.
Taking this into account, this is a great, captivating horror movie that goes darker and darker. It is so remarkable that the story is told in one hour and a half (given the long duration of movies now).
I think Late Night with the Devil has the perfect ingredients: the 70s atmosphere, the actors, and the horror original plot. Highly recommended!!
