What fumbling a bad bitch can cause...
On a serious note, this movie is perhaps the highest-budget production to come out of Armenian cinema in the last 30 years. Its representation of the difficult economic and political realities of the 90's is incredible. However, the overall message of the movie, sacrifice, and the many faucets through which it is expressed falls flat with an abject lack of justification or emotional depth. The most engaging aspect of the movie is the love dynamic seen early on between Tigran and Ani, however, as the story moves past this, so does the energy that is brought with it.
