“Send out the final hash tag” is a very funny line I’ve got to say

But it’s a pretty mid movie. Like not bad, but I’ll never watch it again. Also the Idris track at the end is very funny

While I love a catholic drama, this is by far the BEST best picture nom that I’ve seen so far. The beginning suffered from the whole first person conceit but once we expanded beyond one person, scenes felt more dynamic and emotional. This had some of the most effective editing and sound design of any movie I’ve seen in recent memory by FAR, and to stick to the whole first/third person conceit takes a lot of courage and it ducking WORKED. This movie threw me for a loop and didn’t do or go where I expected. Fucking props to the team behind it

I was really hoping for some narrative thread between these interviews. As it stands it does feel more like a selection of interviews that were put together maybe even hap-hazardly? Now those interviews were great but since they weren’t connected as much, when I found some of them less interesting I found myself disconnecting more. Also the interludes they had were hit and miss. Tho I LOVED the pup play one

Absolutely beautiful. It’s rare for me in a documentary to care for or to find all of the groups/subject interesting. But this kept me engaged throughout the whole thing. Each story, family or individual they focused on was touching, especially the one mother who was taking care of all of those kids.

But some moments that really got me were:
    - the gay couple and their parents walking under the veggie arch
    - the face of absolute pride and joy of the mother watching her child do a drag performance.

    Just a beautiful movie
