  Tom Cooper is an underrated character in this movie . He is often overshadowed by his sister Murph, but he is a complex and well-developed character in his own right. He is loyal, strong-willed, and fiercely protective of his family. Even when Murph doubted Cooper (saying that he won't come back), Tom believed in him. He knew that Cooper was doing what he had to do to save humanity, and he supported him every step of the way.what a character he is.
