Mickey 17 2025
Bong Joon-Ho is one of my favourite directors, known for including societal issues in his films. Mickey 17 explores class disparity, cloning, and forced eugenics as the elite shape a new civilisation on Niflheim, reducing human worth to genetic viability.
Its dystopian vision carries a clear anti-Trump undercurrent, critiquing authoritarianism and the dehumanisation of the working class. While the film starts strong, the last third didn’t live up to my expectations—I felt it dragged on, and as much as I wanted it to, it never fully grabbed me at certain parts.

The Substance 2024
the concept was really good and the cinematography looked great, but it just felt poorly executed by the end

Look Back 2024
This was so beautiful, I loved it. Look Back felt like a deeply personal story, and you could really feel how much Fujimoto put himself into the characters. It was clear he was drawing from his own experiences and reflections on art, passion, and connection.
The wlw dynamic between the two was done so well. Their bond was portrayed with such tenderness and authenticity, making it one of the most moving aspects of the film.
