Still have no idea what the fuck I watched but I can tell you I was laughing and smiling throughout. Plot nicely tied up with a bow, cheeky dialogue, each character campy in their exquisite distinction, and a thrilling number of Hollywood heavy hitters. I think I’ll show my parents this one (Brad Pitt for my mom, Sandra Bullock for my dad). They’ll eat it up and so did I.
I would be lying if I didn’t say I originally attended this film to watch sweaty boys being sweaty on and around each other. That being said, I will now refer to my life as “Before Iron Claw” and “After Iron Claw.” It is profoundly sad, gut wrenching, and the father is frustratingly blind to the collateral damage of his selfish and tenacious endeavors-his sons’ lives and livelihoods. It’s interesting to watch this movie again as an adult. I remember thinking Vanessa was uptight and “uncool,” and that the husband was unfathomably with it. I had a pit in my stomach from the moment he started crossing little boundaries. I almost couldn’t look at the screen when they were dancing and he confided in her about their marriage ending.
